Physical Therapy Benefits for Injured Workers

We provide medical treatment to injured workers who visit us for an examination and treatment of a musculoskeletal injury. For example, when a professional athlete becomes injured, they are evaluated by a team doctor and minor injuries, such as sprains, strains, and contusions are usually treated with ice, immobilization and medications. The same treatment goes for injured workers whom we treat. They are treated as though they are industrial athletes with the ultimate goal of a fast and safe return to full duty work.

Generally, physical therapy helps minimize the associated pain, swelling and inflammation that develop as a result of the trauma and reduce the duration of discomfort and impairment produced by the injury.

In North and South Carolina injuries on the job are to blame for the millions of dollars incurred in workers compensation insurance costs each year. Work time missed as a result of an injury increases the employer’s expenses. Musculoskeletal injuries which result in some level of pain and or dysfunction, (which limits the workers’ ability to safely and effectively perform their job) may be referred to physical therapy. Collectively, the doctor and physical therapist work to restore the worker’s ability to perform the job at their normal capacity.

Advantages of partnering with Arrowood Medical Center, Occumed and Riverview Medical Center

Our physical therapy services are convenient for patients. Following initial evaluation they can continue to communicate with their treating physician. Some benefits of partnering with us include:

  • We can promptly examine the injured worker, typically on the same day they receive a physician referral.
  • We value the significance of open, honest communication between the employer, attending physician and physical therapist and are fully aware of its impact on the treatment outcome.
  • We accept most insurances and offer medical services to injured workers and private patients.
  • We are able to perform Physical Ability Testing (PAT) for pre-placement or workers returning to work.

If you feel you may benefit from Physical Therapy, please see your doctor or walk in one of our locations for an initial doctor visit. Once you receive a referral you may schedule an appointment.

Please be sure to have your prescription and insurance information available when scheduling your appointment and also for your first visit.

Please see Fees and Insurance for a list of insurance plans we accept.
